Sarawak Locomotives

In Sarawak Locomotives history,there was three steam engines named Bulan, Bintang and Jean, powered by coal from the Sadong colliery, served the route and that the rail service carried passengers, goods and livestock.

It said Sir Charles Brooke, Sarawak’s second Rajah, set up the Sarawak Government Railway Line which opened on April 9, 1916.

The first phase of the track, which was completed in early 1915, connected the Kuching Railway Terminus to the Third Mile Bazaar, crossing Green Road and going along what used to be called Jalan Keretapi (now part of Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce).

By the end of 1915, according to SHS, the line had been extended to the Seventh Mile Bazaar (now Kota Sentosa) and by mid-1916 to the 10th Mile Bazaar (Kota Padawan).

A trip from Kuching to 10th Mile took 35 minutes and the service was available five times a day, with a passenger fare of 20 cents.

Jambatan Gantung Satok in 1960's

Satok Suspension Bridge in 1960's.The other bridge ( Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub Bridge ) only build in early 1970's and fully operational on 1975.Satok Suspension Bridge is the only road connection from both side on those days.

The Mosquito Bus in Kuching

The Mosquito Bus plying from Kuching town to Matang with seating capacity for 6 passengers.At first the passengers were allowed to remained in the bus when it crossed the suspension bridge.Later,passengers were asked to get off the bus,walk across the bridge and get on the bus when the bus has crossed the bridge to continue their journey.Eventually bus were prohibited from crossing the bridge. - Circa 1960's

Well known for the blue stripe image,in end of 2000's,Chin Lian Long and other bus Company merged into new Company with other name and new bus.

Sarawak Transportation Company bus pass by the Sarawak treasury Department building (now demolished and become part of Merdeka Plaza) This bus station was in Lebuh Java,but then moved to Jalan Masjid ( oppositeSaujana ) The destination for this bus are to Batu kawah area,Serian and as far to Sri Aman.

Petra Jaya Bus Company

Bas Petra Jaya , on earlier time this Bus Company known as Bas Khalyubi.For more than a decade, this Bas service area are from Bako,Santubong,and various part of Petra Jaya,including to Bintawa area.For a various reason,the area become smaller and only Bako area are the destination left in the schedule.

This Company main station is in front of Kuching Open Air.

Kuala Baram Ferry circa 1950's

Kuala Baram Old Ferry's - Circa 1950's . Before Jambatan Kuala Baram ready by early 2000's ,Ferry is the only transportation connecting the old Kuala Baram small town area to other side of river (mainly call as Sungai Tujuh area).This photo shows the old Ferry,the new Ferry is bigger and commute lot of Cars and other vehicles.

Back then ,(early 2000's) kuala BaramTown is a happening place,ecspecially on the weekend.Lot of Indonesian ,which work nearby Factories come loafing here as this small town is the nearest place to have some shops compare if they goto Mirior Lutong which cost more money and time for transportation.

The Bruneian also flock to Miri almost every weekend and on this time it will be 3 or 4 times busy than the other days.The Boat Express Wharp to Ulu Baram also located here,the destination is to Marudi,Long lama,Mulu and other small places.

Since the opening of Kuala Baram Bridge,i never been to old Kuala baram town again,hearsay saying that this place still open with small and limited shops catering for people working nearby.

Sibu Express Warf

Pemandangan biasa di Wharf Express Sibu berlatar belakangkan Icon Sibu iaitu bangunan Pagoda di tebingan Sungai Rejang.Pengangkutan air seperti ini adalah pemandangan biasa di bandar bandar di tepi sungai.Sebelum Bas Express beroperasi di Sarawak.Pengangkutan melalui Boat Express ini adalah perjalanan utama yang digunakan.

Boat Express di sini biasanya ada dua jenis,perjalanan jauh dengan saiz yang lebih besar manakala perjalanan yang sederhana jauh dan dekat menggunakan saiz yang kecil.Boat Express yang besar (atau dikenali sebagai Feri di semnanjung malaysia,contohnya Feri dari Kuala perlis ke Langkawi) destinasinya seperti dari Kuching ke sarikei dan Sibu (Vice Versa) manakala saiz kecil dari Sarikei-sibu-Tanjung Manis-Kapit dan lokasi lokasi berdekatan  (Vice Versa ).Boat Express yang besar digunakan kerana Boat besar ini akan melalui pesisir Laut,Engine dan saiz yang besar memudahkan perjalanan,manakala saiz Boat Express yang kecil digunakan di dalam kawasan sungai sahaja.
