Bangunan Jong Chi Ju

Bangunan Jong Chi Ju,develop by Dr .Paul Yong Min Hian and his brothers,the building name is his father name who used to run a small cinema there. The cinema was known as Syn Syn Cinema. In 1980's this building was the highest and have modern infrastructure compare to others.Now serian has become a new division and have more modern and latest infrastructure,this building still standng at Jalan Bandar running still active business for shop,office and restaurant.

Brooke Dockyard Hawker Lane


A woman walk nearby old building nearby Market and Old Brooke Dockyard building,this road was known earlier as Kuching Hawker lane that connected Lebuh Java and Market street.The name givenas Hawker Lane because this lane was known for street hawkers selling various items from shirt,household items and fresh produce.Since the bus station and some shops closed at Lebuh java,this lane also seize their operation as less people using this place anymore.

In those days,people got raw rice from the farm,this process is really need from extracting the non eaten part.Nowadays machine do most of this job,this process still in practice in some area where people got their rice from raw paddy field.

Miri Gateway Arch at Tamu Muhibbah

Miri Gateway Arch at Tamu Muhibbah,this arch has long demolished and now part of a new flyover - Circa 8th March 1987. There are two gateway arch in Miri including this one,the other was at nearby Miri airport.Also got demolished few years back for the cause of widening the road.

A postcard showing a sketch at " The Datu's Road, Kuching ". Jalan Datu's now known as jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol or known as "Kampung Nombor" whereas Kampung along their road known from Kampung No 2 to Kampung No 6.

Beside their numerical Kampung,other name for kampung at Jalan Dauk Ajibah Abo are Kampung Mungguk Kubur,Kampung Bandarsah,Kampung Bintangor,Kampung Patingan,Kampung Segoleng and Kampung Temedak.

Postcard of Kampung Goebilt



A postcard showing Kampung Goebilt in 1922 ( Based on mark on the stamp ) This village was open in 1890's and was known as Tanjung Batu , near to Moro Tebas ( Muara Tebas ). The village name then change to Goebilt based on name of 2 American man,name Goelets and Vanderbilts.When those 2 name combined,it become Goebilt. This 2 American man developed about 200 acres land nearby for planting a Jelutong tree,bringing with them some latest technology and unconventional planting way to increase the crops.

The American man came here as a result from open Policy from Rajah that allowed outside developer and Investor to come to Sarawak.As a result for this effort,most of people nearby also working as farmer involved in the farming of the Jelutong tree,instead only as fisherman.Hence the village name renamed after both two because of their Contribution to Sarawak on that particular time.

Fish trawler on a jetty at Sungai Sarawak,in year 2000 and before,Sarawak River is merrier with many type of boat including various size of Fish trawler.Usually they park at the nearby jetty or wharf and upload fish they caught from the sea direct to local market or through the middleman.Recent years,the volume of boat entering sarawak River are declining because of some new law and regulation regarding the boats.This photo taken sometimes in 2007 or 2008,based on the ongoing construction of the Dewan Undangan Negeri Building behind.
