Future Development at Old Kuching City Centre

Future Development in Old Kuching City Centre.There a few development that still not exist today ( January 2019)


1.Building between floating Mosque and Darul Hana Bridge
2.Building between floating Mosque and Brooke Dockyard.
(Brooke Dockyard now in Senari Port and the old Brooke Dockyard is empty and soon will be refurnished into Museum known as Muzium Samudera)
3.High rise Building at current Saujana Building.(Is Saujana Building will be demolished and replaced by this building? Just wait and see)

Cadangan Pembinaan Jalan baru Samarahan - Kuching

Cadangan Pembinaan Jalan baru ke Samarahan.Umum mengetahui Jalan Kuching - Samarahan Expressway adalah antara  Jalan tersesak di kawasan Kuching - Samarahan, sama ada waktu pagi untuk turun bekerja atau pada waktu petang,masa untuk balik kerja.Ada juga masa-masa lain , kemalangan pada skala kecil sahaja cukup untuk membuatkan jalan tersebut menjadi sesak hingga jauh berkilometer panjangnya dari kawasan UNIMAS hinggalah ke bulatan Samajaya Free Industrial Zone.

Terdapat beberapa cadangan untuk melencongkan kesesakan ini dan dalam masa yang sama akan melancarkan perjalanan dari Samarahan ke Kuching (Vice Versa ) >Pelan ini dalan status kajian menyeluruh dan akan dilaksanakan dalam masa terdekat setelah kajian selesai.Yang pastinya,diharapkan pembinaan laluan baru ini akan memudahkan dan menyenanggkan semua pengguna yang menggunakan laluan lama dan baru ini kelak disamping membangunkan kawasan persekitaran setempat.

Applying garden city concept that contains a large amount of plants throughout the city which reduces the level of heat and pollution.

Public bus and tram are provided in this town centre. People can park their car at Kuching central and take the public bus to their destination. Meanwhile, the purpose of the tram is also similar to the public bus. However, it passes India street and carpenter street which vehicles are not allowed to enter.

Greenbelts create a green network system, placing low & high rise buildings in packages while difficult to cross it by cars. Padang Merdeka and pocket park provide recreational opportunities. The Transportation hub, Kuching central is connected to the hotel and convention centre so that people can get to one of these places without having to cross the busy road.

The tram carries different ethnicity of Sarawak such as the Iban, Bidayu, Melanau and others bumiputera. Inside the tram itself also provides general information about these ethnics. This approach is to spread the basic knowledge of the culture and history of Kuching to the community.

LANDMARKS

The landmark of this town centre is the radiant tower which is located at Padang Merdeka. It acts as gateway to downtown. Padang merdeka is situated between the greenbelts which is connected and accessible by the pedestrian bridge.

INFRASTRUCTURES

Our design is to add more pedestrian walkways and traffic light throughout the town centre to distinct and achieve safety for pedestrians and bicylist
