Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in early 1970's


 Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in early 1970's.During this time, many buildings have not been built yet around this area, around the end of the 1970's, there was a Holiday Inn Hotel built on the left side, while in the middle there was "Wisma Oriental".

At the end of the 1980's, on the right side there was the Riverside Majestic, while around the 1990's in the cinema section behind "Wisma Oriental" there was Wisma Tun Jugah while across Wisma Tun Jugah now the Sheraton Hotel was built next to Wisma UTC.

Kuching town view in 1969


 Kuching town view in 1969,there are some different view compare to current view.In the area near Fort Magherita, in this era there is a Police Barrack which is the "Pasukan Polis Hutan Barrack" which later became known as PGA. There is also a primary school nearby which is SRK Gersik. The police barrack was moved around the mid 2000's to Batu Kawa where the nearby area has now been built the new Dewan Undangan Negeri.

The Old Court house building


 The Old Court house building,located between India Street and Carpenter street.This building was build after all the building nearby which is The  Court House and the Round Tower.This building was build during Japanese Era and besome their office,after Japanese era this building was converted into Court building.

The busy sunday Market at Satok


 The busy sunday open air market at Satok Road (the pasar Minggu after Padang Pasir) where for 50 cents a spot,hawker sells good ranging from  jungle produce to movie star posters.The highest building can be seen from here is Bangunan Bank Negara Malaysia. Circa end of 1970's.

Parade at Padang Sentral


 Parade at Padang Sentral for the Anniversary of Sarawak's Independence in Malaysia, circa 1969. Behind it is the Sarawak Foundation Building. If compared to Padang Merdeka now, Padang Sentral was long ago divided in two where it was divided by a road near this building.

The Borneo Co. Ltd


 In June 1856, The Borneo Co. Ltd ,was registered in London with a capital of 6,000 pounds, making it the only foreign company permitted to operate in Sarawak at that time.

Mu Niang Co. Ltd. has 6 shareholders, including Robert Henderson, the president of London Henderson Commercial Bank,John Charles Templer, and the first manager is Denmark Helms (Ludvig Verner Helms). Helms had been doing business in Singapore as early as 1852, and he got acquainted with James Block.

The office and warehouse of Mu Niang Company are located on the banks of the Sarawak River, where the Hilton Hotel is today. The business of this company is diversified, involving in the mining of antimony mines.

After the war, various businesses of this company were gradually acquired by other companies and finally completed its historical mission.

Main Bazzar Kuching in 1968


 The old photo of Main Bazzar Street in 1968 was taken from the direction of Tua Pek Kong Temple.On the right is today's Chinese History Museum, which was the office of the Kuching Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

We can see signboard on the left, It’s Maybank, which occupies two stores, next door is the famous Southern Soda Factory.

Now most of the place there is regular shop selling shirts and classical items.
