The Gawai burong or bird festival at Sarawak

 Ibans people decorating the heavy pole in the foreground, before raising it at their gawai  kenyalang - the "hornbill festival" for gawai burong - "bird festival".This festival in early days,celebrated the return of the warriors from a head hunting festival.At Rumah Penghulu Ningkan,Ulu Ai in 1955.
