The Petanak Central Market at Jalan Petanak

 The Petanak Central Market,located on area of 1.74 hectare at Jalan Petanak was completed in 1988.It is a 2 storey building with 385 stalls under its roof.The project was joint venture with State Government.

In 1988,this market located to  the "tukang besi"house area,The village then transfered to Batu Kawa area and few other building were build there.Now we can see the new Tua Pek Kong just nearby this Central market and on the other side is  Riverine Sapphire Condominium which just full ready by last year (2021).

Fort Magherita at North Sarawak river

 One of Kuching's most notable sights is the building commanding an excellent position on the northern bank of the Sarawak river,Fort Magherita  named for the wife of Rajah Charles Brooke,has many details from the English Renaissance style and comes with battlement tops.

 In 1963,the centre of attraction was the Central Padang where the ceremony making the advent of Malaysia was to take place.The dais and grandstand stook expectantly for the big function,adorned by elaborately carved and painted designs of Iban,Kayan and Malay origin but belending beautifully with old style chinese lantern.

EPF Building and Sarawak State Government Office

 The impressive 11 storey EPF building at Kuching by pass,Kuching.On far right is  the 12 storey State Government Office building.Most of the office there was Sarawak Land Survey which now transfered to Wisma Pelita at Petra Jaya.This photo was taken in 1980.

Now this area totally change,from the EPF building which decorate into new form and the State Government area are change into Swinburne University of Technology.The whole area nearby have flyover road.

Great Fire of Sibu in 1928

 The captured scene shows the aftermath of the ‘Great Fire of Sibu’ in 1928. All features as seen on this photo are gone, except for the tree at the centre and the concrete block on the right. The raintree in front of Tua Pek Kong Temple is now the oldest tree in Sibu Central Business District. Tua Pek Kong Temple was also rebuilt.

 The Square Tower standing in the heart of City at Pengkalan Batu facing the Bund Garden,this tower lines up to its title resembling the late Renaissance Tower in England.It was originally build as a detention centre for prisoners. During the Brooke era however,it also doubled as a fortress and incredibly a dance hall.
