Postcard of Kampung Goebilt

A postcard showing Kampung Goebilt in 1922 ( Based on mark on the stamp ) This village was open in 1890's and was known as Tanjung Batu , near to Moro Tebas ( Muara Tebas ). The village name then change to Goebilt based on name of 2 American man, name Goelets and Vanderbilts. When those 2 name combined,it become Goebilt. This 2 American man developed about 200 acres land nearby for planting a Jelutong tree, bringing with them some latest technology and unconventional planting way to increase the crops.

The American man came here as a result from open Policy from Rajah that allowed outside developer and Investor to come to Sarawak. As a result for this effort, most of people nearby also working as farmer involved in the farming of the Jelutong tree, instead only as fisherman.Hence the village name renamed after both two because of their Contribution to Sarawak on that particular time.
