History Of Sarawak Flag

Sarawak Flag

The Sarawak flag was adopted by the Parliament of Sarawak in 1988. The flag was first raised at the National Day parade in Kuching on August 31, 1988.

Interpretation of the three colours
Red Colour: symbolises the courage, determination and sacrifices of the people in their tireless pursuit to attain and maintain progress and esteem in the course of creating a model State;
Yellow Colour: denotes the supremacy of Law and
Order, unity and stability in diversity.
Black Colour: symbolises the rich natural resources and wealth of Sarawak such as petroleum, timber etc. which provide the foundation for the advancement of the people;
The Yellow nine pointed Star denotes the nine divis
ions where the people live in harmony. The Star symbol also embodies the aspiration of the people of Sarawak in their quest to improve their quality of life.

On 9 March 1963 the independent Sarawak adopted the old State flag but with proportions 1:2. When it joined Malaysia on 16 September 1963 the State flag remained unchanged.

The 1973 flag is indeed linked to the Brunei Rebellion. The Brunei Rebellion flag was based on Indonesia's (the bulk of Borneo is in Indonesia). The green triangle at the left side of the flag represents the unity of Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei under the rule of the Muslim sultan of Brunei. An earlier discarded variant of the Brunei Rebellion flag made its way to Sarawak and became Sarawak's 1973-88 flag. This was possible because one of the key participants in the Brunei Rebellion was a Sarawakian independence activist who later surrendered to the Malaysian government and received a pardon and political rehabilitation. When Sarawak needed to ditch its 1963-73 flag which was too British and colonial, he sold the blue-triangle flag of the Brunei Rebellion to the Sarawak state leaders. As for the new state flag of 1988, Sarawak did not readopt Brooke's colours. Brooke's colours are red and blue. Brooke changed the state colours of his kingdom to black, red and yellow because of the advice of the Bruneians, who form 20 per cent of Sarawak's population, and who ruled the state before he arrived in Borneo. Brunei's original colours are yellow (for the royalty), black (for the nobles) and red (for the masses).

According to some historian, the flag was instituted on 31-8-1973 (in remembrance of 10 years inclusion within the Federation of Malaysia). The colours of the flag are the national colors, to which symbolic significance as attributed: courage and perseverance (red), honesty and purity (white); and national feeling (blue)."

A Kenyalang (Hornbill) represents the State emblem. The 13 secondary feathers on its wings and tail represent the 13 states of Malaysia. The hibiscus, which is the national flower, is found below the wings and the State motto is 'Bersatu, Berusaha, Berbakti' (United, Industrious, Loyalty). On the bird's chest is a shield with the state colours: black, red and yellow.

This one is the old emblem with old sarawak flags

Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Melayu

this nonsense things come again and the government revert this matter again and again..to use term of Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Malaysia.as a national language..
Bahasa melayu and bahasa Malaysia is totally different things to me.Bahasa Melayu own by Malay and Bahasa Malaysia own by Malaysian but all can speak Malay so just better put it Bahasa Melayu.

when come to me this matter, why should again revert again the term to bahaa Malaysia, just better put in as Bahasa Melayu,why..afraid that other races not malay afraid or dont want to use Bahasa Melayu.Look at Singapore,Bahasa Melayu become one of it National Language..Bahasa Malaysia in Singapore..sound stupid to me.Even in Indonesia, they adopt Bahasa Melayu as their national language, even they call it Bahasa Indonesia on later day.But looking in indonesia, the majority of its people known with javanese culture and language but the prefer to use the malay language as lingua franca( Refer to Sumpah Pemuda Bangsa 1928) so are they using Bahasa Malaysia ..no no no and noooo..

its Bahasa Melayu..why in malaysia it called Bahasa Malaysia and where is the Bahasa Melayu..lost..gone..where..in grave..

how about Bahasa Mandarin and Bahasa Tamil, maybe the term should be demolished to and change to Bahasa Malaysia 2 and bahasa Malaysia 3..

as Bahasa Melayu is pronounced dead by Government,i prefer to use English, eventhough my English is not so good, even though i'm not born with english tounge,my parent is not english man nor english lady..my grammar is bad,but not as bad to people who make my language dead..

I type it just for my own protest...haha if anybody read this blog and read my statement dont make it as political statement hehehe

Look at the sky,its not a bird...

ha ha look at the sky again..its not abird,or its not plane, and its not superman..its just the haze, came back again. In malaysia,we dont have summer ,winter autumn or whatsoever.Only Hot,dry ,wet for all years and sometime it come with haze season hahaha..

the haze or maybe some people like to call it smoke, smog or whatever. ,in malay its called as jerebu but not jelebu as jelebu is a place at negeri sembilan,so now haze is annuall season like dry season, rainy season, and hazy season.buts its not in any metheorogical callendar,or anybody like to wait for it.it come whenver it want to come, blew by the wind and it come..

for past few years, haze season come with so many problem with it.this year in malaysia is visit malaysia years and hopefully malaysian and malaysian government dont want any haze or hazy situation. When come to haze season, all look so blur, there is no blue sky,we cant see any star or moon when came to night and around us smell like smoke.even you are not smoking or nobody you know is smoking around you..suddenly around you full of smell like smoke..uhuk uhuk..

sadly my school teacher passed away because of this haze season,.umm if im not wrong during 1997 haze season.she's having athsma and athsma people are very allergic to this situation.the air in the haze is poisonous to them,as people dont have athsma also might have some problem when breathing..uhuk uhuk...

i'm not coughing but just pretend to cough ...i have few friends that have athsma and pity of them, when come to this haze season, its like they have a season to stay inside the house.

what i remember during 1997 haze, the weather look so cloudy but there is no rain, there is sun but you cant see any sun.and the climax of the situation when 12.00 in noon look like the time is 6.45 p.m...looks so gloomy..no wind,no sunlight, just smog smog and smog..
