Old Bintulu Airport


View of Old Bintulu airport ( Circa 1990's) The Old Airport is one of Bintulu's trademark,with airport in the middle of the town.Just a stone's throw with Bintulu town centre.No need to take a Taxi if we stay nearby,lot of accommodation nearby the airport such as Hotels and Restaurant.

However,this airport fully closed in 2002,as new bigger and modern Bintulu Airport open.The new Airport located about 25 km from Bintulu Town Center.Since the closing of this old Airport,the old runway becoming centre for several Local events such as Autoshow,International Kite Festival and lots more.This area also has been developed for development of Shopping Complex and apartment.

View from kampung Wireless facing Pullman Hotel & Resort.Few decades ago,there was another Kampung nearby,known as Kampung Dagang.Kampung Dagang then relocated as the place is needed in further development of Miri City.One of the development we can see today as we see in the photo are now the Pullman and Part of Marina area.The earliest plan for that place was a proposal to make a waterfront,and proposal remain a proposal.

Kampung Wireless is the last Kampung at the edge of Miri River near to town centre.Hopefully it will maintaain there as part of Miri Heritage and History.

View of Miri City ( Circa 1980’s).We can differentiate Miri in 1980’s compare to today.There are some changers for some area,which have more new building build,but there also some unchanged part until today. ( End of November 2019)

4. Mega Hotel Miri ( The Clear land space opposite Masjid Lama Miri,the land was belong to the Mosque)
5. Government Quarters ( Now become Imperiall Mall and shophouses)
6. Miri Post Office and Telekom Malaysia ( the building still contact and the same)
7. Persatuan Melayu Miri (Opposite Miri Post Office)
8. Kompleks Mahkamah Miri (at the clear land opposite Post Office and nearby Persatuan Melayu Miri)

Tamu Luak Bay



























The term Tamu are well known in Northern Part of Sarawak,Brunei and Sabah,Tamu is a local marketplace where we can find fresh produce and local delicacies such as kuih,nasi lemak,mee kolok etc.In Miri alone there are several well known Tamu which is Tamu Kedayan (Tamu lama),tamu Muhibbah and this Tamu Luak,adding the list of Tamu in Miri

Old Iban man with Tattoo


Old Iban with traditional tattoo , the well known tattoo "bungai terung" on his shoulder.A Frog resemble tattoo on his throat and other motives.Bungai terung came from literally a flower,in Sarawak there is a vegetable known as terung dayak,known to local Sarawakian.The Terung itself influence the motives of the tattoo.While the frog motives on his throat ,have other meaning.Frog resemble the long lives and prosperity to those put this tattoo there/

Padang Central Kuching

 A view of Padang Central sometimes in 1980's.Padang central now known as Padang Merdeka,that area was rename sometime in early or middle 1990's.Half of the structure there now gone,including the hill.the fountain and historical building behind the fountain.(Place where the late Chief Minister of Sarawak proclaimed Independence of Sarawak in Malaysia)

The high rise building beside the Padang Central is The Secretariat,now known as bangunan Yayasan Sarawak.The facade of building are now change,this building was known for the big crown above the building.This photo taken from Bangunan Tun Abdul Razak building,which now also demolished and now rebuild a new Sarawak Campus Museum.

Bird Eye View of Jalan Badaruddin


Bird Eye View of Jalan Badaruddin circa 1950's / 1960's. Some of these building still exist today ( November 2019) which is the Kuching Hq for Land and Survey Department while on the opposite site is Sarawak IPK (Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontijen).The old administration office on the left side of the photo while all other building which have today including high rise flat quarters still not there yet.

The hill on the far side is Bukit Siol which now is the Headquarters for Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara.
