Scenic view of the Sibu Wharf and the brightly lit oldest temple in town known as Tua Pek Kong Temple at dusk in Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. The temple has a 7 storey pagoda with a temple history dating back to the 1850's.

Only the men and boys take part in the Malay Form of Dancing known as "bergendang".Behind the low curtain streched across the room sit the girlsmbeating out a strength rythms on the drums and singing to the dancers,one at a time.

Perahu tambang view from Pengkalan Sapi Jetty ,circa 1996.The view around the jetty base now are totally different compare the situation on the photo.Now the jetty embankment is cement compared to this picture it is just wood and there is Darul Hana Bridge from the other side as well now.In 1996, Dewan undangan negeri sarawak had not yet been built in that area, compared to now.

Penambang boats and ordinary boats rowing pass through the Sarawak River, the photo was taken in 1972. At that time, the river was the main route for many people, through it not only to cross but other activities such as fishing, "menjala" ,and this river is the main route from the village outside the city to Kuchng where lot of transport boat came from outside of Kuching.

Kuching the capital of Sarawak stands on the Sarawak river some 18 miles from the sea.Kuching waterfront view on 1946 ,this place is now the main waterfront area where many people gape and stand here looking at the river.

Most of building here are now demolished,from the whole Cekor area building and the tower at Kuching Waterfront.Photo Circa 1999.Now there is Darul Hana Bridge here,connecting from Kuching Waterfront to Dewan Undangan Negeri area.
The Pasar Cekor area are now cleaned and expanded become Kuching Waterfront area too, and there is Indian Mosque constructed at river replaced the Old Indian Mosque at India Street.

The Bridge between the museum
The old bridge that connects the Old Museum building and the Wisma Tun Abdul Razak around the end of 1999. This bridge has been demolished and replaced by a new bridge. Behind there we can see the Yayasan Sarawak building, that building has also been demolished according to the construction process of the New Museum.

Fata Hotel,Located at Jalan Tabuan Off Jalan McDougall,Ting & Ting Supermarket located across this hotel.This photo taken in 1980's.At that time there was a prison building behind this hotel area, now the prison has moved to Puncak Borneo road.Now, the hotel building has been restored and beautified.
Electra House,the first shopping Mall in Kuching
Electra House,the first shopping Mall in Kuching.This building was the highest building in Kuching in early 1970's.The Electra came from word Electric which was the first building build there.The building was demolished in early 1960's and during 1965,the proposal of this building was proposed and few years later it was build.

Ranee, the wife of Charles Vyner Brooke, took a photo with the Malay women and children who supported him when he came to Kuching regarding the status of their government after the surrender of the Japanese in 1946.
Only after that the government of Sarawak was taken over by the British for the reason of overall protection.

Around Jalan Masjid in the early 1960s, the lorry almost passed the Sylvia Cinema Building, now the cinema has been demolished to make way for the Sarawak Government building.
The view of Kampung Santubong and its beach from above
The view of Kampung Santubong and its beach from above. Now on the beach there is a stone embankment that prevents large waves from hitting the village around the end of the year.
Across the village of Santubong is a shrimp pond explored by SEDC and a private company, which has been operating around the mid-1990's.

The Astana Negeri Sarawak in 2022
The Astana Negeri Sarawak (Governor of Sarawak's residence) in Kuching. Built in 1870 it is situated beside the New Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building (Bangunan Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak Baru).Opposite this Astana,there was a Malay Kampung known as Kampung Astana,the whole Kampung transfered to Demak Baru and Telaga Air area in early 2000's.

Man catching crocodile
Crocodiles are not especially common in Sarawak but they are responsible for an occasional death.They are found not only in the rivers but along the coast as well.Quite number of people specialise in the catching of the crocodiles which are generally speared at night by lamplight.
Unfortunately the crocodiles which are best worth catching are the smaller and less dangerous ones as the valuable belly skin decreases sharply in value with size.Two men at Samarahan catching the smaller size of Crocodile.Photo Circa 1950's.
